I worked for CBS News for nine eventful years. Even though I was a mere designer, my desk was in the storied CBS Broadcast Building in Hell's Kitchen, directly upstairs from the newsroom. I walked daily though the broadcast studios, so I felt like I was a small part of something important: the fourth estate's duty to inform the public, and hold elected officials accountable.

I was initially part of a small cross-platform team that rapidly iterated on the CBS News website and wide array of mobile & OTT apps. During a later corporate reorganization and multiple rounds of layoffs, I became the sole designer specifically for the web platform.

The team became globally distributed during the COVID pandemic shutdown in 2020. In late 2025, the parent company Paramount, under new ownership, offered a "severance opt-in package" to a large percentage of remote employees, and I decided to accept.

Below are case studies on a several projects I worked on. Unfortunately, many of these involve disappointment and frustration, but I have attempted to be fair and accurate. The good news is that all but one did successfully result in a shipped product or feature.
